St. Elizabeth’s Anglican Church
St. Elizabeth’s Church welcomes all people. We believe that God’s love and forgiveness makes a difference to our lives. In faith, we aim to bring God’s blessings to people in our neighbourhood.
As we experience the complexities of life, we are called to bring the peace of God to all situations. This involves the restoration of relationships – with each other, with the environment, and with God.
For the environment, we filter our storm water to irrigate the local park, and use sunlight to generate electricity. Our rose garden is a local landmark, and we enjoy sharing the produce from our community garden.
You are welcome to join in the life of this community, whether it be – Meditation, the Community Garden, Mother’s Union, Community Visitors, Social Cards, Men’s Group, the Pastoral Care programme, or the Friends of St. Elizabeth’s.
We gather to worship on Sundays at 9.30 am, a service for all ages.
St. Elizabeth
St. Elizabeth, princess of Hungary, gave away her wealth, devoting her life to the poor. It made her an enduring symbol of Christian charity, of which she is a patron saint.
In 1221, she married Louis 1V, a harmonious but brief partnership as he died six years later. After Louis’ death, Elizabeth took refuge with her uncle, Bishop Eckbert of Bamberg and she joined the third order of St. Francis. At Marburg, she built a hospice for the poor and sick, to whose service she devoted her life. (4)
